What is Revival?

Revival is a God-ordained phenomenon in which a culture, or sizable segment, turns from sin-worship to Yahweh-worship. Revival can refer to God’s renewal of His own church to repentance and greater obedience, or the awakening of an unregenerate people to himself. At Campus Revive, we long and pray for both. We live to see God’s people turning away from the idols of our culture and devoting ourselves wholeheartedly to the Master; we live to see a dead, idol-worshipping generation repent of its dishonorable deeds and come alive by the power of God. Revival can not be manufactured or fabricated; rather, it is solely dependent upon the will of God, occurring as He wills, when He wills. And yet, in the mystery of God’s sovereignty we are commanded to be “devoted in prayer” (Rom. 12:12); we are stirred onward by the example of Moses’s Israel-saving intercession for Israel (Ex 32: 1-14); we find encouragement from our Lord’s promise that our Father gives “good things to those who ask him! (Matt 7:11). And so we pray, that God might send revival again.

The Story

“What if we got Christian students together from all over Cal State Fullerton to pray for revival for an hour and then proclaim the gospel for an hour?”

What started as an idea turned into a 30-person prayer and evangelism outreach, which itself became a weekly event I had the privilege of leading for the rest of my undergrad. I felt alive seeing the body of Christ gather to do such active, kingdom-expanding work. As graduation was approaching I began praying seriously, “What if did this after I graduate?” I finished at CSUF with my business degree in May 2019 and Campus Revive was born that summer, a ministry focused on raising up students to pray for revival and proclaim the gospel.

The college campus is the epicenter of our culture. Colleges train today’s students in the worldviews and philosophies “according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ” (Col. 2:8). We believe if we want to see our culture changed and students reached our campuses must be saturated in devoted prayer, and its students inspired and equipped to take the gospel to their peers. May God see that mission to its end.

The Mission

Inspiring, gathering, and equipping Christian college students to pray for revival and proclaim the gospel on the frontlines of culture: the college campus

The Vision

To produce prayer and evangelism movements on every campus in California led by devoted, bold, well-trained, Christ-loving ambassadors.

Jared's Bio

Gripped by stories of revival through gatherings of prayer, Jared has been leading prayer movements since high school. “If we will pray, might God do it again?” In 2016 he began sharing the gospel regularly with an outreach team at his church, which carried over to weekly gospel-conversations on his college campus. In 2018 he started a prayer/evangelism group at Cal State Fullerton that turned into “Campus Revive.”

His goal is to become a non-profit organization that develops prayer movements covering every campus in intercession, followed by evangelism movements blanketing the campus with the gospel. Currently,  Jared is directing the ministry with the help of an intern to stir and train local young adults for prayer, revival, and evangelism. Jared is also working on his M.Div part-time at The Master’s Seminary.
